Customer portal development that answers the phone for you
The short answer: a customer portal is a place behind a login where your customers find their own documents, orders and invoices instead of calling or emailing. We build it with MitID login and data straight from e-conomic, in fixed packages from DKK 18,000 plus DKK 600 a month.
The question behind every customer portal is: which enquiries can disappear? We can’t promise you a number, but we know where they usually come from. "Where is my invoice?" "When will the order arrive?" "Could you send the contract again?" A portal can answer every one of those without anyone on your side lifting a finger – and the customer gets the answer at ten in the evening, when it suits them.
What does a customer portal do?
A customer portal gives each customer their own space with the data that concerns them. It pulls information from the systems you already use, so you never maintain anything in two places. The table shows the features most portals are made of.

You don’t need all of it from day one. Most start with login, documents and invoices and add orders and signature later. For Mannaz we built an IT support portal where employees, participants and facilitators find answers themselves. It shows that self-service works just as well for users who are not customers in the classic sense. At heart, a portal is a web app with a login and integrations.
How do invoices from e-conomic get into the portal?
Through the e-conomic API the portal fetches invoices, credit notes and payment status for the customer who is logged in. Customers only see their own data, and your bookkeeper keeps working in e-conomic as before. If customers should be able to pay straight from the portal, we add MobilePay or card payments. Read more in the guide to e-conomic integration.
Why MitID login and digital signature?
MitID gives you certainty about who is logging in, and it is a login Danish customers already know. No forgotten passwords, no reset emails. If agreements need signing too, the portal can send documents for signature and file the signed version with the customer automatically. See how we work with digital signature and MitID.
What about security and GDPR in a customer portal?
Permissions per customer and per user, so nobody sees anyone else’s data
A log of who viewed and changed what
Encrypted connections (SSL) and ongoing security updates in the monthly plan
Backups as a standard part of the monthly plan
A data processing agreement describing which data is processed and where
Deletion of data when the customer relationship ends
GDPR is at least as much about which data you choose to show as about the technology behind it. We scope that with you during design, so the portal only shows what the customer actually needs. Less personal data also means less to protect and less to delete when the relationship ends.
Without a portal
Customers call for invoice copies
Contracts bounce around by email
Order status takes a phone call
Data sits in several inboxes
With a portal
Customers download the invoice themselves
Contracts are signed and filed in the portal
Status updates automatically
One place with controlled access
Everyday life before and after a customer portal.
How much does customer portal development cost?
A portal fits our web app packages. With one integration, such as e-conomic, it is Small: DKK 18,000 plus DKK 600 a month and 12 features. With MitID and e-conomic it is Medium: DKK 36,000 plus DKK 900 a month and 24 features. Add digital signature and it is Large: DKK 54,000 plus DKK 1,200 a month and three integrations. Every detail is on pricing.
For Grundfos we worked on customer portals for iGRID, from field research with users to UI and clickable prototypes. See the Grundfos case. If the portal is a step away from spreadsheets and email, also read replacing Excel with a custom system.
How do you get started with a customer portal?
Count enquiries for a week or two: what do customers ask about, and how often?
Pick the three questions that take up the most time and make them the portal’s first features
Find out where the data lives today – e-conomic, your own system or a shared folder
Decide how customers will log in, and who at each customer should have access
Send us a short brief, and you get a fixed written proposal within 24 hours
The exercise rarely takes more than a couple of hours, and it makes the portal far better. A portal built around the questions customers actually ask gets used. A portal built around an idea of what they might want rarely does. Start here.
We have worked with Ceptiv on several of our digital offerings, and they have become a natural part of the team. They move fast, turning ideas into new designs and clickable prototypes quickly, so we can test with customers early instead of debating on paper.

When we started working with Ceptiv, Kirppu was one store in Herlev and a lot of ambition. We needed a booking system our renters could use without calling us, and we needed it fast. Ceptiv took charge of the whole experience, from the prototype and the design to testing it with real renters, and they were honest about what belonged in the first version and what could wait.

Bringing Ceptiv’s designer into our teams was one of the best decisions we made for the product. Core, Automate and Express 365 serve very different users, and Ceptiv gave them one clear design language that still feels at home in Microsoft 365.
We needed an IT support platform where our employees, participants and facilitators could find the answers on their own, and that is exactly what Ceptiv gave us. They took the time to understand how people actually use our systems and designed a platform that is simple to find your way around and easy for our IT team to keep up to date.
Working with Ceptiv was a real pleasure. Their designer quickly understood a very complex domain and turned our requirements into an interface that was clear, warm and easy to use for everyone, from parents to pedagogues.

Ceptiv was a true partner on the new LEGO Service Portal. They brought the voice of our employees into every sprint through usability tests, journey mapping and workshops, and turned complex requirements into a portal that is simple and genuinely enjoyable to use.

Ceptiv understood from the first meeting what MiGrow is about: making it easy for companies to find a development project they genuinely care about. They turned our ideas into a clear concept, a sign-up flow that is quick to get through and a search that makes sense straight away.

MyMannaz had to work for three very different groups of people, and Ceptiv understood that from the first workshop. They spent time with our coordinators, facilitators and participants, and turned what they learned into one simple app instead of three separate systems.
Ceptiv gave us a UI designer who became part of the Cura team from the very first sprint. He quickly understood a demanding domain, from Fælles Sprog III to the reality of a home care shift, and turned complex requirements into screens that are calm and clear for care staff under pressure.

We came to Ceptiv with an idea and a clear ambition, and they took ownership of the whole journey, from the first sketch to a finished system. They created a brand we are proud of, designed every screen of the portal and built everything from scratch: the website, the panels for jobseekers and employers, the admin and the payouts.

Ceptiv understood from day one that we sell trust before we sell property. The new identity gives us a calm and solid expression that works just as well on a prospectus as on a construction site. Our investors noticed it straight away.

We have worked with Ceptiv on our prospectuses for many years, and it has made a real difference. They gave us a standard design that makes a heavy legal document easy to read and nice to hold, and that we can reuse from project to project.
We build customer portals in fixed packages. Small costs DKK 18,000 plus DKK 600 a month with 12 features and one integration. Medium costs DKK 36,000 plus DKK 900 a month with 24 features and two integrations, and Large costs DKK 54,000 plus DKK 1,200 a month with 36 features and three. You get the price in writing within 24 hours.
Can customers log in with MitID?
Yes. MitID is one of our pre-built integrations and counts as one of the package’s integrations. It gives you certainty about who is logging in, and customers avoid yet another password. For business customers you can combine MitID with roles, so several people at the same customer each get their own access.
Can the portal show invoices from e-conomic?
Yes. The portal fetches invoices, credit notes and payment status straight from e-conomic, so customers always see the current status. You keep your bookkeeping as it is, and nothing is entered twice. If you use Dinero or Billy, the same is possible, because we have pre-built integrations for those too.
How does a customer portal stay GDPR compliant?
By showing as little personal data as possible, granting access per customer and per user, logging who views and changes what, and deleting data when the relationship ends. On top of that comes a data processing agreement describing the processing. We scope the data with you during design, so GDPR is built in from the start.
Can customers sign agreements in the portal?
Yes. With a Penneo integration the portal can send quotes and contracts for digital signature and store the signed version with the customer afterwards. That removes printing, scanning and emails back and forth, and you can always see who signed what and when.
Do we have to build the whole portal at once?
No, and we don’t recommend it. Start with the features that remove the most enquiries – usually login, documents and invoices. Once customers are using the portal, you can add orders, signature and support. Extra features after launch come at a fixed price per extra feature.
Describe your project and I will contact you as soon as possible, so we can schedule a no-obligation meeting. You leave with practical advice on how to get your project off to a good start.
