How much does an app cost in Denmark in 2026?

The short answer: in Denmark a simple app typically costs DKK 50,000–150,000, a medium-complexity app DKK 150,000–500,000 and a complex platform from DKK 500,000 to well over DKK 1 million. With us, a scoped app for both iOS and Android starts at DKK 28,000 plus a fixed monthly plan.

App prices vary more than almost anything else you can buy digitally. Two apps that look alike in the App Store can differ in price by a factor of ten, because one is three screens on top of a spreadsheet and the other has MitID login, payments, push notifications and an admin panel for customer service. The figures in this guide are typical market ranges in Denmark, updated for 2026, so you can set a realistic budget before you speak to anyone.

How much does an app cost in Denmark? Typical price tiers

Typical market ranges in Denmark in 2026. The ranges overlap, because the content, not the label, sets the price.

TierTypical priceWhat you typically getTimeline
Simple appDKK 50,000–150,000A few screens, login, one data source, no paymentsWeeks to a few months
Medium-complexity appDKK 150,000–500,000Profiles, payments, push, admin panel, several integrationsSeveral months
Complex platformDKK 500,000 to 1 million+Several user types, real-time, offline, marketplace, strict securityMany months plus ongoing development

Note that the ranges say nothing about how good the app will be. They say how much has to be built. That is why the first question should always be: what does the app need to do on day one, and what can wait for version two?

What drives the cost of app development?

  • Number of features and screens. Every feature has to be designed, built, tested and maintained.
  • Platforms. iOS only, Android only, both, or a web version for desktop as well.
  • Integrations. MitID, MobilePay, e-conomic, PostNord or your own ERP each need to be connected and tested.
  • User roles. An app for customers, staff and administrators is really three apps in one.
  • Design level. Standard components are quick. Bespoke design, animation and illustration take time.
  • Backend and data. Your own API, database, file storage, offline mode and real-time sync are often the biggest hidden item.
  • Security and GDPR. Personal data, logging and access control have to be right from the start.

The item most people underestimate is everything the user never sees: the server, the database and the admin panel where your staff fix orders and answer customers. If you are unsure whether you need a store app at all, read web app vs native app first. A web app can be a cheaper first step.

Native or cross-platform: how much can you save?

Two native apps

  • One codebase for iOS and one for Android
  • Every feature is built and tested twice
  • Often needs two specialists or two teams
  • Makes sense for heavy graphics or advanced hardware

Cross-platform in React Native

  • One codebase running on both platforms
  • Typically saves around 30–40 % of the build cost
  • Fixes and new features are made in one place
  • Covers the vast majority of business apps
The same app, two ways to build it.

We build our mobile apps in React Native and TypeScript, the same language as our web products. That means the app, the admin panel and the API can share logic, and you do not pay for the same business rule three times. See how we work under React Native app development.

What does an app cost to run after launch?

Running costs that are often missing from the first budget.

ItemTypical costWhat it covers
Apple Developer ProgramUSD 99 per yearRequired to be listed in the App Store
Google Play ConsoleUSD 25 one-offRequired to be listed in Google Play
Maintenance15–20 % of the build cost per yearNew iOS and Android versions, security, bug fixes
Backend hostingDepends on the number of usersServer, database, files, push notifications

Run it with a real number: under the rule of thumb, an app that cost DKK 300,000 needs DKK 45,000–60,000 a year to stay healthy. Over five years that is as much as the build itself. We have a full guide to maintenance costs if you want to compare agreements.

How do Ceptiv’s app packages compare?

Our mobile packages. One app for iOS and Android, a fixed price and a fixed monthly plan.

PackageOne-time pricePer monthScope
SmallDKK 28,000 (EUR 4,000)DKK 1,200 (EUR 165)12 features, 1 integration
MediumDKK 48,000 (EUR 6,500)DKK 1,800 (EUR 250)24 features, 2 integrations
LargeDKK 72,000 (EUR 10,000)DKK 2,400 (EUR 325)36 features, 3 integrations

The packages sit below typical market ranges for three reasons: the scope is locked before we build, we write one codebase instead of two, and we reuse more than 40 pre-built integrations instead of starting over. The monthly price covers hosting, maintenance and updates, support, security and backups, so the 15–20 % rule is already built in. See the details under mobile apps.

A real example: for Kirppu, which runs Denmark’s largest chain of flea market supermarkets, we built stand booking, a renter panel and a mobile app for labelling items. The platform grew from one store to more than 30. The app was one piece of a larger system, and that is often where the real value sits.

Questions about what an app costs

What does a simple app cost?
A simple app with a few screens, a login and one data source typically costs DKK 50,000–150,000 with Danish developers. The biggest variable is whether a backend and an admin panel have to be built behind it. With us, a scoped first version with 12 features and 1 integration costs DKK 28,000 plus DKK 1,200 a month for hosting, updates and support.
Is it cheaper to build one app for iOS and Android?
Usually, yes. A cross-platform app built in React Native shares most of its code between iOS and Android, which typically saves around 30–40 % compared with two separate native apps. The saving continues after launch, because fixes and new features are made once. Native only pays off when the app leans heavily on graphics or device hardware.
What does it cost to be in the App Store and Google Play?
Apple charges USD 99 a year for a developer account, which you need to be listed in the App Store. Google charges a one-off USD 25 for a Google Play Console account. On top of that come backend hosting, maintenance and the updates needed each time Apple and Google ship new operating system versions. If you sell digital goods inside the app, the stores also take a share.
How much should we budget for running an app?
A common rule of thumb is 15–20 % of the build cost per year for maintenance, so an app that cost DKK 300,000 typically needs DKK 45,000–60,000 a year to stay healthy. With us, running costs are a fixed monthly price from DKK 1,200 covering hosting, maintenance, updates, support, security and backups. New features are priced separately at a fixed price.
Why are your app packages below typical market prices?
Because the scope is fixed before we start, and because we do not sell hours. We build one React Native codebase, reuse more than 40 pre-built integrations and work as one senior team with no hand-offs between departments. The packages fit a first version or a tool with a clear purpose. A large platform with many user types still sits in the upper market ranges.
Who owns the app’s code?
You do. We build everything from scratch, and you own both the code and the data. If you want to end the monthly plan, it can be cancelled with 30 days’ notice and you take the code with you. Cancelling within the first 15 months carries a one-off fee stated in the package. It is all written into the proposal before you say yes.
