Billy integration in a custom system

A Billy integration means orders and customers in your system land as documents in Billy, so you are not exporting a CSV every Friday. Billy sits in the same family as the other Visma accounting products and is often chosen by firms that started small and stayed. The value is the same as with Dinero: one place to create the customer. Do it only if you already pay for Billy, are happy, and have a repeated flow — not eight invoices a year. Do not do it if you will move to e-conomic in six months anyway. Integrate the system you will still have in a year.

Same owner as e-conomic and Dinero. Different product, different API, different mapping. “We have done e-conomic, so Billy takes a day” is rarely true. Payments and books.

An order in your system becomes a document in Billy — same customer number if you picked a master.

Only do a Billy integration if

Do it

  • You already pay for Billy and are happy
  • You have a repeated flow (order → invoice), not 8 invoices a year
  • You can point to a master for the customer number

Do not

  • You will switch to e-conomic in six months anyway
  • You want two-way sync “to be safe”
  • Nobody can explain the chart of accounts
Integrate the system you will have in a year. Not the one you had in 2019.

What gets synced

  • Contact / customer with a stable id
  • Invoice and credit note
  • Payment status if you also have a payment layer

Billy counts as one integration. The Small package is DKK 18,000 + DKK 600/month. If you also want MobilePay, that is two. See pricing.

Say out loud whether Billy is still your system in a year. If the answer is no, integrate what you are moving to — and skip a rebuild. Quote within 24 hours.

FAQ: Billy integration

Is Billy the same as e-conomic?

No. Same owner, different product, different API, different mapping.

Can you reuse an e-conomic integration?

The principles yes. The mapping no. Ask what is actually reused and what is new field-by-field work.

Should we switch to e-conomic first?

Only if you are switching within a year anyway. Otherwise integrate Billy and do not pay for two moves.

What about eight invoices a year?

Then CSV is still cheaper. Integration pays on a repeated flow, not on exceptions.
